The Annatations

The Annatations

A space where fashion, culture, lifestyle, and the world around us come together.

As a college student constantly moving , I’m always noticing something. A new trend taking over my feed. A fashion moment that feels bigger than just an outfit. A nostalgic idea making its way back into culture. A coffee run that somehow becomes part of the routine.

The Annatations is where I take note of it all.

Part fashion diary, part cultural commentary, and part college lifestyle, this is my perspective on what’s happening, what’s inspiring me, and what I think is worth talking about. From the clothes we wear to the trends we follow, the brands we love, and the lifestyle we’re creating along the way.

Because sometimes, the smallest details say the most.

Consider this my collection of annotations on the world of fashion, culture, and everything in between.

a letter from the editor-

Let’s Talk Halloween-

This Halloween, don't just pick a costume. Pick a reference.

There are two types of people on Halloween: the ones who throw on a pair of bunny ears and call it a day, and the ones who spend three weeks tracking down the exact jacket worn by a side character in a 2000s Disney Channel original movie. And honestly? The second group gets it.

The best Halloween costumes aren't always the most elaborate or expensive. They're the ones that make someone stop mid-conversation and say, “Wait. Is that...?” A niche costume is part fashion, part pop culture knowledge, and part commitment to a reference that may only be understood by five people in the room. But when someone gets it, it's worth it.

So, how do you find one?

Start broad, then get ridiculously specific.

Your childhood media archive is a gold mine.

Before you settle on another predictable costume, revisit the movies, shows, and characters that shaped your childhood. Think Disney Channel wardrobes, early-2000s cartoon characters, forgotten movie villains, and the outfits you desperately wanted to wear when you were eight.

Let the internet do some of the digging. TikTok and Pinterest are your best friends when it comes to finding the oddly specific costume you didn't know you needed. Search phrases like “niche Halloween costumes,” “deep-cut pop culture costumes,” or the name of a show followed by “iconic outfits.” Go beyond the first page of results. The best ideas often live in fan edits, old screenshots, and forgotten corners of the internet.

Commit to the bit. Here's where the difference between a good costume and a great one comes in: execution.

Once you've chosen your reference, find the exact outfit. Pay attention to the silhouette, colors, accessories, shoes, hair, and makeup. Screenshot the original look and use it as your blueprint. Thrift stores, your own closet, resale apps, and DIY alterations can help you recreate it without spending a fortune.

The objective isn't to buy an entirely new wardrobe. It's to identify the details that make the reference unmistakable.

The Perfect October

90 days left of 2026.

Crazy, right? There’s still so much to look forward to, and so much time to make the most of this year.

October is the perfect time to pause and reflect on the year you’ve had so far. What has changed? What have you learned? What are you proud of? And most importantly, what do you want the next three months to look like?

You don’t have to wait until January to start making changes. The last 90 days of the year can be your time to focus on bettering yourself, creating routines you actually enjoy, and ending the year feeling your best.
